The Hyde air pistol used the frame and other components from the Wamo Powermaster .22 cal pistol. Daisy bought the tooling for the Hyde Automatic and reintroduced the pistol as the Daisy CO2 100 in 1962. The Hyde Automatic was produced for only one year. The trigger on this gun feels like a true single action semi-auto although it operates the elevator in addition to releasing the sear. The trigger is single-stage and has a crisp break point. The Hyde Automatic holds 200 BBs in a hopper from which 5 BBs at a time are fed into a spring-loaded internal magazine. Getting BBs into the magazine takes some patience. The 5 BBs in the magazine can be fired as quickly as the trigger can be pulled. The Hyde Automatic has good power and accuracy and represented innovative engineering for its day. These air pistols are pretty rare and a working model is even harder to find. The Hyde Automatic is one of the few production air pistols ever made from a converted firearm. Performance: Measurements were made on 11/7/09 at a temperature of 70 ºF and 14' elevation. A seven shot string was fired from a bench rest at 15' using Daisy Avanti BBs (5.5 gr). The highest velocity measured was 432 fps, the lowest was 407 fps (average of the 10-shot string was 415 fps, s = 9). A six shot string fired with open sights grouped at 0.64". 	Loading BBs: Up to 200 BBs can be poured into the port at the rear of the gun. To load BBs into the spring-loaded magazine (max = 5), point the gun down and shake it. Then, raise the gun up to 45º with the left side facing down. Push the follower forward and BBs should drop into the magazine. As the hopper gets low on BBs, it is harder to get BBs to drop into the magazine. BBs can be unloaded by shaking them out of the port in the back. The rear sight is adjustable by sliding the sight blade up/down and left/right. The range of adjustment is small.
	Loading CO2: There is no piercing pin O-ring seal on this model. To load a CO2 cartridge, hold it in place -- centered under the pin -- while tightening the piercing screw. When the cartridge is pierced, turn the screw one more revolution to seal the cartridge. When gas pressure gets low, the trigger will lock. Removing the CO2 cartridge unlocks the trigger.
