Crosman introduced the
Model 357-6 as a replacement for the venerable Model 38T, which
was finally discontinued in 1985. The Model 38T is a superior
airgun in just about all respects but lacks the removable pellet
cylinder of the 357-6.
I
bought this airgun in 1988 and it is
the first pellet gun I ever owned. It was resealed by TMac
Airgun Service in early 2006 and also had a new barrel latch
installed. The Model 357-6 is a great plinker. Performance: Measurements were made on 9/13/06 at a temperature of 77 ºF and 14' elevation. A ten shot string was fired from a bench rest at 15' using Crosman Premier Super Match pellets (7.9 gr). The highest velocity measured was 442 fps, the lowest was 406 fps (average of the 10-shot string was 428 fps). A six shot string fired with open sights grouped at 0.58". Loading Pellets: A weak point of this design is the latch that holds the barrel closed. This loosens over time resulting in a floppy barrel and a decrease in accuracy. |
