Comments: The Gamo P-23, a replica of the SIG-Sauer P230, is an average performance BB gun that requires the use of lead BBs due to its rifled barrel. The P-23 can also fire lead pellets but only in single-shot mode. Testing was performed only with BBs. Accuracy is pretty good compared to other BB guns in this price range. The body of the gun is plastic and the "slide" is metal. Although the gun can be fired rapidly, doing so often results in jamming.

Performance: Measurements were made on 8/08/06 at a temperature of 84 F and 14' elevation. A ten shot string was fired from a bench rest at 15' using Gamo Round Ball BBs (8.0 gr). The highest velocity measured was 409 fps, the lowest was 357 fps (average of the 10-shot string was 374 fps). A six shot string fired with open sights grouped at 0.58".
